Wow, Everly is one good piece of work. Salma Hayek did exceptionally well in this nicely told story of a brave woman that was forcefully sold into sex slavery and was determined to get out. Confounded in a building, separated from her beloved daughter for good four years. She takes on Taiko (Hiroyuki Watanabe) a crime syndicate boss who sells girls for sex.
Everly (Salma Hayek) who had a $50,000 bounty on her head for betraying Taiko by agreeing to testify against him in court, with the help of a cop who promised to get her out of the hell hole if she co-operates. She pulled off this role in an amazingly, given that this is her first role that involved this much of action. Taiko found out about it of course and sends the cop’s head to her as a gift. She managed to take on and defeat every single person sent to kill her. Amidst of all this, she got to see her daughter whom she had not seen since she was a baby and she eventually got kill Taiko in an amazingly cool way.
The storyline was interesting, although it started out a bit confusing which I guess was part of the suspense plan. The acting was exceptionally good and realistic, everything was just so well played out.
In my opinion, this is a must watch film for everyone – its action packed, suspense filled and thrilling. I will give it a 7 of 10.
