To infinity and beyond! Don’t mind me, I just like shouting that phrase at the top of my voice whenever I see the upcoming Star Trek title. Now down to brass tacks…
Paramount Pictures has released a second trailer for the upcoming third movie in their Star Trek reboot film series, Star Trek Beyond. This movie follows Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). Trust me when I tell you, this second trailer packs a punch. Check it out below.
After the the tease we got from the first trailer, the second brings a lot more action and gives us more of the USS Enterprise crew and their challenges.
Also, a theatrical poster was released, check it out below.
The Star Trek Beyond synopsis goes as follows: After stopping off at Starbase Earhart, a remote outpost on the fringes of Federation space, the USS Enterprise, halfway into their five-year mission is heavily attacked by a powerful, unstoppable wave of unknown aliens and the crew are forced to abandon ship. With the crew stranded on a unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy who has a well-earned hatred of the Federation and what it stands for.
This time around, Fast and Furious helmer Justin Lin takes over the directorial seat from J.J Abrams, with Roberto Orci and Bryan Burk returning to join Abrams as producers. The returning cast include Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock respectively, with Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin reprising their roles from the previous film. Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, and Shohreh Aghdashloo newly join the film’s principal cast.
Star Trek Beyond is set to be released on July 22nd, 2016.
